Voter Beautification

October 2004
Organization and painting of Various Murals
Political

Utilize murals to stimulate younger and firt time voters to participate in the up-coming elections.

(excerpt from Reno Gazette Journal)
In Nevada, getting out the vote has become an art form. For example, Erik Burke, a University of Nevada, Reno art major, is getting the vote message out in a big way through giant, colorful murals on buildings around Northern Nevada. Burke, 25, leads a group of twenty 20-somethings in this project. "Our age group is so under-represented, and it is so timely to get young people interested in politics," said Burke, a Reno High School graduate. Burke is calling his local grassroots mural painting campaign the Voter Beautification Project.
